Prof. Samson Wright, one of Britain’s most brilliant teachers of medicine and author of medical books as well as an active leader of the British Jewish community, died here yesterday, hours after he collapsed at an annual ball sponsored by the Friends of the Hebrew University. He was 57.
During the Nazi era he worked indefatigably in relief movements and in the rehabilitation of refugee doctors and scientists. After the war, he turned his energies to aiding research and medical teaching in Israel and last year the Hebrew University of Jerusalem named a laboratory after him. He was also a vice-president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews.
