The will of the late Prof. Max Winkler, for many years head of the German department of the University of Michigan, who died March 14, provides for $5,000 to be used as the principal sum of a fund from which students of the college of literature, science and the arts of the university may borrow. The fund has been named the Winkler Loan Scholarship Fund in honor of the memory of Professor Winkler’s parents, Simon M. and Matilda Winkler. The total of the estate is in excess of $100,000 and the widow is named executrix.
