Peace in the Middle East depends on recognition of Israel and direct negotiations with her by all the Arab belligerents, it was agreed at a “thinkers’ conference” of the Canadian Progressive Conservative Party held near Quebec.
Applause from the delegates greeted these proposals which had been presented by the conference’s foreign relations committee. The Progressive Conservative Party is the official opposition in the House of Commons in Ottawa. The conference was a preliminary gathering for a party leadership convention scheduled in September.
