Elections by knitgoods workers of Local 155 of International Ladies Garment Workers and Local 155 of the United Textile Workers, embracing 7,000 members, resulted in a clean sweep for the progressives.
Louis Nelson, former chairman of Dressmakers Local 22, received a three to one vote for the managership of the joint counsel. In both locals the entire progressive slate was elected, defeating “left group” and “independent” candidates. John De Leo was unopposed for chairmanship of the I. L. G. W. U. local, while H. Spindel won the U. T. W. local presidency by a two to one vote. Progressive candidates won throughout both executive boards.
