Brandeis University held its 15th annual commencement exercises here yesterday, awarding degrees to 334 undergraduates and 158 graduate students, and granting honorary degrees to eight distinguished personalities, including Israel Ambassador Avraham Harman; David Dubinsky, former president of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union; Benjamin H. Swig, of San Francisco, a member of the Brandeis board of trustees; and Isador Lubin, well-known Jewish economist.
Others who received honorary degrees were Andrew W. Cordier, dean of the School of International Affairs at Columbia University; Barnaby C. Keeney, president of Brown University; Henry T. Heald, former president of the Ford Foundation; and Francis Keppel, chairman of the board of the General Learning Corporation.
The principal addresses at the commencement ceremonies were delivered by Ambassador Arthur J. Goldberg, chief United States delegate to the United Nations; and Erwin D. Canham, editor-in-chief of the Christian Science Monitor.
