All property confiscated during the Nazi occupation has been returned to Jews residing in Sub-Carpathian Russia which was ceded to the Soviet Ukraine by Czechoslovakia last year, according to a report received there.
Jewish community councils are functioning normally in the larger cities and the approximately 3,000 Jews living in the region have encountered no anti-Semitism, the report said.
As a result of the information coming out of the area many Jews who originally resided there are expected to choose Ukrainian rather than Czechoslovak citizenship. The problem of those Jews who still desire Czech citizenship, however, is still unsolved, with the government studying the applications submitted to it.
