The foundation in Crimea of a series of colonies for Jewish agriculturists is contemplated by the Joint Distribution Committee and the Jewish Colonization Association, in accordance with the plans the former received from Dr. Bernard Rosen, director in Russia of the J. D. C.’s reconstruction activities.
It is learned that Dr. Rosen submitted his plan to the Conference of J.D.C. workers held here recently under the presidency of Felix M. Warburg. The J.D.C. representatives agreed in principle to the proposal, stipulating, however, that the $1,000,000 the undertaking would require should come out of the moneys allocated for Jewish reconstruction in Europe, and that the Jewish Colonial Association be asked to assume part of the activities now carried out by the J.D.C.
Dr. Ungar, the ICA representative, gave his hearthy approval of the plan, proceeding to Paris with a view to having it sanctioned by the Association’s heads.
Assurances were given that the Soviet Government is favorably disposed toward the plan.
