A Ministerial Committee was authorised by Israel’s Cabinet here today to reconsider the proposed legislation concerning a much-criticized libel law which is expected to come up for discussion by the Knesset (Parliament) after the coming Passover recess.
Minister of Justice Dov Joseph reported to the Cabinet about the various criticisms leveled against the proposed libel and slander legislation. Several members of the Cabinet proposed some amendments to the Government bill, and an altered draft is expected to be ready before the Knesset takes up the measure.
