General astonishment was caused here today when the prosecutor suddenly ordered the release of three Nazis held in connection with the attack upon worshippers in an improvised synagogue in the Sperlgasse Cafe on Rosh Hashanah.

The prosecutor not only ordered the release of the Nazis but the return of the equipment which they carried at the time of the attack.

The reason given is that the investigation allegedly proved that the Nazis neither entered the synagogue nor attacked the worshippers.

As a result the Nazi press now demands compensation for the unwarranted arrest of the three Nazis, disciplinary measures against the Jewish police inspector who conducted the first investigation and action against the Socialist press which scored the attackers.
