Judge Joseph M. Proskauer, former Justice of the New York State Supreme Court and an honorary president of the American Jewish Committee, tonight received the Committee’s second annual Judge Learned Hand Human Relations Award.
The award, which was presented at a dinner here, is given each year to a distinguished member of the legal profession whose career exemplifies the principles of justice of the late Judge Hand. Judge Proskauer, who served as president of the Committee from 1943 to 1949, was New York Supreme Court Justice from 1923 to 1930. He was a member of the New York Charter Revision Committee and chairman of the New York State Crime Commission from 1951 to 1953.
