salsky, Adolph Lewisohn, Sol Tekulsky, Municipal Court Justice Nathan Sweedler and Max Lazare were honorary kindlers of the lights, while Samuel Penner, 11, a student at the Hebrew High School, lit the candles at the head table. Cantor Aaron Caplow of Temple Israel of Long Beach, sang “Rock of Ages” and an excerpt from the Mishnah, and Mrs. Clara L. Ostriker proclaimed the voice of Ivriah, the women’s division of the Jewish Education Association.
Magistrate Goldstein introduced Mr. Proskauer, Mrs. Gabriel Hamburger, chairman of Ivriah, who said that the future of American Jewry was assured once Jewish mothers, the strongest force in the preservation of Judaism, were won to the cause of Jewish education.
Greetings to the dinner were received from President Roosevelt and Governor Lehman, who was guest of honor at the last Chanukah dinner of the Association.
