The prospects for the success of this year’s United Palestine Appeal in New York City are very encouraging. Morris Rothenberg, chairman of the Board of Directors of the United Palestine Appeal, stated at a press luncheon given Wednesday at the Broadway Central Hotel. Representatives of the Jewish press in New York City attended the luncheon.
The workers for the Palestine cause in the various sections into which Greater New York has been divided for campaign purposes are confident of raising the allotted quota and are continuing the effort with unbounded enthusiasm. The month of January is being devoted to completing the arrangements for the campaign which will start on Friday. Mr. Rothenberg added that because of the difficult conditions now obtaining in Palestine, it is imperative for all Zionists to lay aside their factional strife and to declare a truce until the campaign is over.
A short discussion was followed by an address by Louis “Lipsky, president of the Zionist Organization of America, who declared that upon the success of the United Palestine Appeal this year depends the entire program of consolidation as mapped out by Zionist leadership in preparation for the forthcoming consummation of the Jewish Agency plan.
