The joint Israel Government-Jewish Agency Coordinating Committee, which net here today under the chairmanship of Premier David Ben Gurion, decided to appoint a joint Government-Agency committee to study the question of immigration from the United States and to prepare proposals for consideration by the parent body.
The coordinating committee is composed of four members of the Israel Cabinet and four members of the Jewish Agency executive. Its session today was devoted almost exclusively to the question of immigration from the United States. Dr. Nahum Goldmann, chairman of the Jewish Agency executive and president of the World Zionist Organization, described to the meeting prospects for the settlement of American Jews in Israel and suggested the conditions necessary to establishment of a receptive atmosphere.
Philip M. Klutznick, president of B’nai B’rith, who is in Israel in connection with the fraternal organization’s triennial convention, and Dr. Moshe Davis, provost of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, attended today’s meeting as observers.
