More than seventy cities along the eastern seaboard have been invited to participate in the massive protest demonstration here on the eve of French President Pompidou’s visit next week. The protest is being organized by the Jewish Community Council of Greater Washington. Several Jewish groups in various cities have chartered buses to bring people to the demonstration. Speakers at the Feb. 23 rally will include Rabbi Arthur J. Lelyveld, national president of the American Jewish Congress; L. Eldon James, past national commander of the American Legion, and a representative from the Youth Committee for Peace and Democracy in the Middle East. Similar demonstrations are planned along Pompidou’s route in the U.S., particularly in Chicago, San Francisco and New York.
