One thousand persons joined leaders of the three major faiths tonight to pay tribute to the contributions of Prof. Martin Buber, Jewish philosopher and Hebrew University faculty member, to the religions of the world. The function was sponsored by the American Friends of the University.
Dr. H. R. Nieburch, widely known Protestant spokesman, analyzed what Dr. Buber meant to Protestantism as well as how he had influenced trends in Judaism. Father Gustave A. Wiegel, Catholic leader, referred to Dr. Buber as a “voice of eternity.” Daniel G. Ross, president of the Friends of the University opened the meeting.
