Ritual murder accusations against the Jews were resurrected today by Julius Streicher’s weekly, Der Stuermer, which features in the current issue the famous Xanthen, Rhenish Prussia, ritual murder trial in which the Jewish butcher, Adolph Buschoff, was absolved from blame in the death of five-year,old John Hegemann.
The anti-Semitic sheet published by Streicher carries alleged pictures of the Xanthen trial as well as photographs of Hebrew passages from the Hebrew book of mystic writings, the Zohar. Attached to the photographs are mutilated translations from the Hebrew text which are alleged to prove that Jewish religious laws prescribe ritual murder as a part of the Jewish religion.
DEMANDS NEW TRIAL
An angry editorial in the paper denounces the acquittal of Buschoff, who emigrated to the United States after the trial, and demands a retrial of the case.
According to Der Stuermer, the population of Xanthen is once again singing the anti-Jewish songs current at the time of the trial. Only the complete expulsion of the Jews from the Rhine districts will end anti-Jewish feeling there, Der Stuermer declares.
