There was a marked decline in public manifestations of an anti-Semitic nature in Britain last year, Dr. Abraham Cohen, president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews reported here today at a meeting of the board.
In his report, Dr. Cohen noted this development “with satisfaction,” but simultaneously warned that “nevertheless, the future cannot be contemplated without anxiety. Anti-Semitic agitators will probably exploit the worsening economic position in the country as an opportunity to sow discord between the general population and the Jewish community. Consequently, “he urged, “alertness must be maintained and the defense organization which has been built up must be preserved intact.”
