With disclosure that the growing Hungarian Nazi movement is about to take over the old Monarchist newspaper Magyarsag, It became increasingly evident tonight that pro-Hitlerite leader Ferenc Szalasi has plenty of money at his command.
major Szalasi’s lieutenants have been negotiating for some time with Dr. O. Rupprecht, the publication’s present general director, and the deal is expected to materialize momentarily. The magyarsag’s conservative catholic editors and business executives will inevitably resign to make way for an almost completely new staff. Nazi Deputy Koloman Hubay probably will become the new director.
Only recently extreme rightist organs like the Magyarsag have veered away from their past pro-Nazi tendencies and have begun supporting the Government campaign to keep the Nazi movement in check. Nazi acquisition of the Monarchist Newspaper will therefore mark an important new milestone in Major Szalsi’s quest for power.
