Urging that an end be put to racial and political persecutions in Germany, the executive committee of the Quakers of Great Britain today addressed an open letter to Chancellor Hitler, emphasizing that his policy was leading to permanent dishonor to the German nation.
The letter calls upon Germany to put an end to its coercive measures if it desires to awaken goodwill abroad.
An appeal to the English public not to visit Germany was today made in a letter by Eleanor Rathbone, Member of Parliament, appearing in the Manchester Guardian.
VISIT TO REICH ‘BAD MISTAKE’
Visits to Germany at this time, she writes, can only be construed as a bad moral and political mistake.
In her letter, the lady Member of Parliament also condemns the recent friendly gestures of Great Britain towards Germany, pointing out the recrudescence of anti-Semitism in Germany, even after the recent speech by the Prince of Wales to the German war veterans in England.
Miss Rathbone concludes her letter by advocating the complete political and economic isolation of Germany as an exhibition of the loathing of British democracy for Hitlerism.
