Queen Elizabeth II was announced as honorary chairwoman of Britain’s Holocaust Memorial Day Trust. Holocaust survivors and faith leaders met Tuesday in London’s Imperial War Museum to launch the charity, which takes over responsibility from the Home Office for running the annual remembrance on Jan. 27, the day Auschwitz was liberated. The queen hosted Holocaust survivors earlier this year in a special reception at Buckingham Palace to mark the 60th anniversary of the liberation.
