Israel Querido, a leading figure in the literary life of Holland, died here today, aged sixty-two years.
Querido came from an old Portuguese family and was recognized as a most colorful figure. Starting originally as a watchmaker he devoted his spare hours to literature and philosophy and later gained recognition as an outstanding critic and writer. He particularly distinguished himself with a number of historical studies.
