Zionist circles today considered it “ill-advised” to express any opinion on Lord Wedgwood’s suggestion that Britain transfer the mandate over Palestine to the United States. They pointed out that this suggestion was far-reaching in its implications.

Lord Wedgwood, on the other hand, announced today that he intends to raise the question soon in the House of Lords. He claimed that “a considerable number of people in England” think that the Palestine mandate should be handed over to America. “It is desirable that the question of America taking over the Palestine mandate should be raised at this time, when the matter of defending Palestine against the Germans is of vital importance,” he said.

The 41st annual conference of the British Labor party, which is now in session here, today unanimously adopted a resolution demanding that “international assistance be given to promote, by immigration and settlement, a Jewish National Home in Palestine after the war.”
