No new disturbances occurred in the city all day Tuesday following the serious anti-Jewish excesses which occurred on Monday as the result of a rumor spread that some Jewish girls were guilty of insulting a Catholic procession on Sunday.
A new delegation of Polish students appeared before the district chief asking for the release of the 40 students arrested Monday night on the charge of participating in the excesses. Before the investigation is ended no prisoner will be released, they were told, The district attorney and the investigating judge today visited the Jewish editorial offices, the dormitories and high school which were wrecked in the riots.
A statement of great importance was made to newspapermen by Father Rokicki, who led the Catholic procession on Sunday. He told the newspapermen that the procession passed without incident. Only when it came to the corner of Zygmuntowska and Grodek Streets did he hear a slight tumult. The procession ended peacefully and nothing of any consequence occurred, he said. This testimony is a direct contradiction of the reports published in the nationalist press in which it was alleged that Jewish girls threw stones or that they mocked the procession.
