The Jerusalem sector of the Israeli-Jordanian border was quiet again today, while the atmosphere continued tense along Israel’s northern frontier with Syria, after a weekend flare up of renewed border violence on two of Israel’s borders.
Here, where Jordanian fire killed one Israeli and wounded three others, the situation was calm again. The United Nations Mixed Armistice Commission, which investigated the sudden, fatal burst of Jordanian fire against an Israeli patrol near the Mandelbaum Gate, was reportedly assured by the Jordanian members of the MAC that the attack did not reflect a Jordanian Government policy.
