Rabbi David de Sola Pool, spiritual leader of Congregation Shearith Israel, oldest synagogue in the U.S., was elected president of the American Jewish Historical Society at a session of the group’s 53rd annual meeting here last night.
He succeeds Prof. Salo W. Baron of Columbia University. Dr. Joshua Bloch, chief of the Jewish Division of the New York Public Library, was elected vice-president and Prof. Hyman B. Grinstein of Yeshiva University was named recording secretary.
