Rabbi Alessandro Dafano, a personal friend of the Pope, whom he taught the Hebrew language, and president of the Board of Rabbis of Italy, died today at the age of 88.
Rabbi Dafano had been in the Milan rabbinate since 1892. Funeral services will be held tomorrow.
