Rabbi Eliezar Silver of Springfield, Mass., was chosen president of the Union of Orthodox Rabbis in the United States and Canada to succeed Rabbi Israel Rosenberg, who declined the office after he was re-elected at the convention in Belmar, N. J.
Rabbi Rosenberg, who held the office for many years, would not serve another term. He was elected honorary president at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Rabbi’s union. Rabbi Eliezar Silver is counted among the leading Orthodox rabbis in America and is an outstanding Talmudic authority.
