Rabbi Eliezer Silver, chief rabbi of the United Orthodox Congregations here, is circularizing public officials throughout the country with a plea that Jewish college students, particularly those studying medicine, be given an opportunity to observe their Sabbath without discrimination.
United States Senators, governors of states with state universities, college presidents and others, have received from Rabbi Silver a copy of the letter he sent to United States Commissioner of Education William J. Cooper, urging that curricula be arranged so that Jewish students will not be called upon to violate the Sabbath.
