Referring to the “wicked management of one of the largest delicatessen firms in the country who paid a rabbi for the use of his name for Kosher endorsement and had at the same time barrels of non-Kosher meats in its possession” and disclosing that this firm was tried by eleven rabbis and found guilty, Rabbi Herbert S. Goldstein of the Institutional Synagogue issued a warning to the Jewish public to be on guard against Kosher frauds. Rabbi Goldstein urged upon the public to demand as a guarantee of Kosher the sanction of a known rabbinical organization or the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America.
