The Rabbi Herzog World Academy Building was dedicated here in ceremonies attended by President Shazar, Cabinet Ministers, Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Nissim and a distinguished gathering.
The three-story building, one of several to be built on a five-acre tract in Jerusalem’s Bayit Vegan quarter opposite Mount Herzl, will house the Talmudic Encyclopedia Institute, the Institute for the Complete Israel Talmud, the Harry Fischel Institute for Torah Legislation and the Institute for Rabbinical Court Judges.
The academy was initiated 13 years ago by Rabbi Isaac Halevi Herzog. It was built at a cost of 1,000,000 pounds–half of which was raised by a group headed by Rabbi Herbert S. Goldstein of New York. The Israel Government and the Jerusalem Municipality provided a grant of 150,000 pounds and the balance was donated by Sir Isaac Wolison, British philanthropist, who was guest of honor at the dedication ceremonies.
