Funeral services were held here today for Rabbi Isadore Goodman, spiritual leader of Congregation Baron Hirsch in Memphis, Tenn., and prominent leader of the American orthodox Jewish community, who died Saturday in Memphis at the age of 65. Some 3, 000 persons of all faiths who heard about Rabbi Goodman’s death on radio and television, attended a hastily arranged memorial service last night in his synagogue.
Born in Palestine, Rabbi Goodman was associated with the Institutional Synagogue in New York, Congregation Beth-El in Indianapolis and the Queens Park Synagogue in Glasgow Scotland, before assuming his present post in 1942.
