Rabbi Jacob Katz, who served as chaplain at Sing Sing Prison for more than 30 years, died here last night at the age of 57. His tenure of nearly 32 years at Sing Sing was the longest of any chaplain of any denomination in any New York state prison. During his sorvice at Sing Sing he comforted spiritually about 70 prisoners who were condemned to the electric chair. He was born in Russia and was brought to this country at the age of two.
