Commenting editorially on the latest anti-Jewish excesses reported from Roumania last week the “Day” of Dec. 19 says it is a well known fact that the Roumanian government deliberately connives at the attacks against the Jews, while the police actually sympathize with the students and others who make these attacks and does nothing to protect the Jews. The “Day” says:
“We have pointed out a number of times that the Jewish representatives must demand through the League of Nations that Roumania become decent and human in her attitude to the Jews. The League must protect the national minorities. If she cannot do this, she can do nothing. Roumania is a prominent member of the League. Can she remain a member while she continues to be a land of pogroms and student-outrages?”
