The Israel Cabinet reassembled today following the withdrawal by Rabbi Judah L. Maimon, Minister for Religious Affairs, of his resignation which he submitted last week because of misunderstandings over religious education in the immigrant camps.
Minister Maimon withdrew his resignation following a visit to him by Premier David Ben Gurion during which the Premier promised to personally intervene in the settlement of the religious dispute. The Premier, who visited Rabbi Maimon at his home, asked him not to postpone his scheduled trip to the United States. Rabbi Maimon is expected to leave for New York by plane Wednesday.
A Cabinet committee started consideration yesterday of the various religious demands presented by the Religious Bloc to the government. It is expected that agreement will be reached on all points. Meanwhile, a group of about 400 Orthodox Jews today held a street demonstration in Jerusalem, demanding more religious education for children in the immigrant camps.
