Rabbi J. Max Weiss, a professor of religious therapy at the Academy for Higher Jewish Learning and secretary of the Jewish Institute of Religion, died here yesterday at the age of 75, Rabbi Weiss, who retired from the pulpit in 1960, had been rabbi of Temple Adas Emuno in Hoboken, N.J., for 10 years and, prior to that, of the Washington Heights Free Synagogue in New York. He was ordained in 1918 by the Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati, and held degrees from the University of Cincinnati and Columbia University.
