Rabbi Morris Halpern, 42, spiritual leader of Congregation Beth Ora, died here yesterday after suffering a heart attack. A native of New York, Rabbi Halpern served as national program director of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America before coming to Montreal. He was a member of the Mizrachi National Council, the Eastern Regional Council of the Canadian Jewish Congress, the Montreal Board of Jewish Ministers, the Council of Orthodox Rabbis and the Montreal Board of the Israel Bond Organization. Rabbi Halpern was a past president of the Rabbinical Council of America.
