Rabbi Norman Lamm, associate rabbi of the Jewish Center (Orthodox) here, was elected chairman of the New York Conference on Soviet Jewry, a group that coordinates the work of several New York based agencies concerned with the plight of Soviet Jews, including education and public information projects. He is professor of Jewish philosophy at Yeshiva University.
