Rabbi Joseph Elkrief who was expelled recently from Morocco was allowed to return to this country this weekend, it was disclosed here today.
The rabbi and his family were expelled on grounds he had visited Israel several years ago. After numerous interventions on his behalf, it was established that he had never been to Israel and that it was a Jacob Elkrief the Moroccan authorities were seeking.
Two Jews were expelled from Morocco in 1960 for similar reasons and a similar finding was made that they were not the persons the authorities thought they were.
