Dr. B. L. Ritter, for the past forty years Chief Rabbi of Rotterdam, has resigned from his post.

The Chief Rabbi decided to resign on account of the refusal of the board of the Rotterdam Jewish Community, by eleven votes against three, to include in the statutes of the Jewish community clauses withholding rites from Jews who marry out of the faith.

Chief Rabbi Ritter is an active member of the Agudath Israel. His resignation became effective on April 1.
