Rabbi Henry A. Schorr has been unanimously elected spiritual leader and minister of Temple Adath Israel of the Bronx, it was announced today by Louis Altschul, president of the temple. Dr. Schorr will begin his duties on September 1.
Dr. Schorr is a member of the first graduating class of the Jewish Institute of Religion and past president of its alumni association. For three years he served Congregation Atereth Israel, Manhattan. When Dr. Joel Blau went to England to serve as Senior Minister of the West End Synagogue, London, Rabbi Schorr succeeded him in Temple Peni-El, now known as the Unity Synagogue, with which congregation Rabbi Schorr has been affiliated for the past four years. Since 1925 Dr. Schorr has served as chaplain of Bellevue Hospital.
