Rabbi Sheldon Zimmerman, president of the Reform movement’s Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, resigned after being suspended by the movement’s rabbinic arm. The suspension came after a Central Conference of American Rabbis’ task force inquiry into “personal relationships” that he had prior to becoming president in 1996, according to the HUC.
