The condition of Rabbi Stephen S. Wise, one of America’s outstanding Jewish leaders, was reported today as “slightly improved” by an official of Lenox Hill Hospital where Dr. Wise underwent an operation last week.
Later today, a member of the family said that the family was “really hopeful for the first time in days.” A bulletin issued by the hospital last night described Rabbi Wise’s condition as “very poor” and revealed that he was on the “critical list”
