The rabbi of Newzlatopol will be tried shortly as the result of charges instituted against him by the shock brigade of Charkov sent to Newzlatopol to supervise collectivization, says a report in the Charkov “Shtern.” According to the “Shtern.” the brigades found 110 pud of wheat hidden in the rabbi’s house.

Another brigade reports from Chmelnik in the Vinnitza region that it discovered over 100 gold rings hidden in the synagogues as well as many silver articles, including candle-sticks, which it confiscated on the ground that they belonged to private Jews who hid their valuables in the synagogue in order to avoid paying old debts.

Thousands of candle-sticks, gold and silver rings and samovars continue to come from Jewish homes in White Russia. More than 1,007 candle-sticks were obtained in two weeks in Mozir alone, a report today shows. All of these are going for the industrialization fund. The newest slogan in White Russia is “who will be the first, we Jews, by delivering our praying shawls or the non-Jews by delivering their ikons, for the industrialization fund?”
