Rabbi Uri Miller, spiritual leader of Beth Jacob Congregation in Baltimore, was last night elected president of the Synagogue Council of America at the closing plenary session of the organizational year. He succeeds Rabbi Julius Mark of New York, who served as president for two one-year terms. Rabbi Mark was honored with a testimonial scroll for his stewardship of the Synagogue Council for two years.
Other officers elected by the religious leaders of the Orthodox, Conservative and Reform Jewish organizations were: vice-presidents, Rabbi Seymour J. Cohen of Chicago and Rabbi Jacob Philip Rudin of Great Neck, Long Island, N. Y.; treasurer, Israel Berman of Kew Gardens, N.Y. recording secretary, Bernard Henick of Lawrence, Long Island, N.Y.; and corresponding secretary, Arthur Bruckman of Bronx, New York.
