A proposal that action be taken to transfer the Olympic games to Vienna was laid before the National Boycott Committee of the American Jewish Congress last night by Rabbi Stephen S. Wise.
Speaking at a meeting of the committee, he declared, “All America is united in the Olympic boycott. If Hitler can bring civilized nations to Berlin, it will be his crowning victory. I want the Olympics to be brought to Vienna. It would save Austria from Hitlerism.”
Dr. Wise, who recently returned from Palestine, reported the boycott movement as strong there as in the United States. He urged measures “to help 300,000 Jews to get out of Germany.”
Dr. Joseph Tenenbaum, chairman of the committee, explained the purpose of the meeting was to intensify the boycott of German goods and services.
