A decision to establish a religious seminary, to meet the shortage of Jewish spiritual leaders in Turkey, was adopted here by the Grand Rabbinate. The seminary will enjoy the status of a school of higher learning and its graduates will find immediate employment after completing their courses. Their salaris will be set by the Grand Rabbinate.
The Jewish community of Turkey, which in the past produced many noted rabbis, is today in great need of religious leaders as a result of the ban on religious education in schools which existed in the country for many years. The ban was lifted only a few years ago.
