The Chief Rabbinate Council adopted a resolution today declaring that it saw no reason to amend the existing text of a memorial prayer for the victims of the Nazi holocaust.

The Council had been asked by Rabbi Yaacov Toledano, Minister for Religious Affairs, to re-examine the text at the suggestion of President Itzhak Ben-Zvi. The President had proposed that the phrase “German murderers” be changed to “Nazi German murderers.”
