A resolution calling for the raising of $2,000, 000 to aid 12,000 students in over 100 Orthodox institutions in Israel, if the United Palestine Appeal refuses to furnish the money, was adopted here last night at a conference of the Union of Orthodox Rabbis of the United States and Canada. The conference is being attended by 400 delegates.
Speakers at the parley asserted that the U.P.A, has thus far contributed only $100,000 of the amount needed. The conference also discussed the financial difficulties faced by Orthodox schools in the United States. It was emphasized that the Yeshivoth in New York are on the verge of being closed down unless immediate steps are taken to secure funds for their continued existence.
