The Rabbinical Council of America, an Orthodox group, closed its 21st annual convention last night with an overwhelming rejection at a special session of two proposals for withdrawal of its members from the Synagogue Council of America and the New York Board of Rabbis.
The votes were the latest development in a lengthy struggle among Orthodox Jewry over participation in organizations which also have Conservative and Reform representation. The proposals were introduced by Rabbi David B. Hollander, who as RCA president last year spearheaded a fight for member withdrawal from the SCA and the Board of Rabbis. The convention re-elected Rabbi Solomon J. Sharman to a second term as president.
