The socialization of the basic enterprises in the United States and the redistribution of national income in America in accordance with equity and justice, was recommended today at the forty-sixth convention of the Central Conference of American Rabbis in session here at the Congress Hotel.
This recommendation was made in a report delivered before the convention by Rabbi Sidney E. Goldstein of New York, chairman of the Commission on Social Justice.
The report deals with current economic problems in American life and also with problems of marriage and the Jewish family. It contains also a recommendation that the Commission be empowered to undertake the task of formulating an official social philosophy of Judaism for the Conference.
URGES AMENDMENT
The Commission on Social Justice, according to Rabbi Goldstein’s report, advocates that an amendment be introduced to the Constitution of the United States, making it possible for Congress to pass legislation on child labor, working hours, wages and social security.
In addition to advocating the socialization of basic enterprises in America, the report urges the adoption of a tax program to effect the redistribution of national income in accordance with justice and equity.
